A body to body massage after a long-haul flight is one of the most common first bookings from visitors to Amsterdam. Ten or twelve hours in a seat leaves a body that feels older than it did at departure: swollen ankles, a lower back bent to the shape of the chair, a neck that slept at an angle. Broad, slow weight is a natural answer to that. The question is when.
What a long flight does to the body
Sitting still for many hours slows circulation in the legs, so fluid gathers around the ankles and calves. The hip flexors shorten from being folded. The lower back loses its curve against a seat designed for the average passenger, and the shoulders round forward over a screen or a meal tray. Dry cabin air leaves the skin and the muscles dehydrated. Add a time difference of six or nine hours, and the body arrives out of step with the clock on the wall.
None of that is harmful, but all of it is uncomfortable, and most of it responds well to long, heavy passes that move from the feet towards the heart and along the length of the spine.
Timing a body to body massage after a long-haul flight
Straight from the airport is rarely the right moment. The body is dehydrated, the mind is foggy, and the temptation is to fall asleep in the first ten minutes and wake in the small hours unable to sleep again. It works better to arrive, shower, eat something light, drink plenty of water and stay upright in daylight for a few hours.
The session then belongs to the evening, ideally at a time that would count as a sensible bedtime in Amsterdam. A ninety-minute booking starting at nine or ten ends in time to sleep, and the deep drowsiness that follows weight-led contact helps the body accept the local night instead of fighting it. Many travellers say that first night was the one that fixed their jet lag.
If you land in the morning and are staying near Schiphol, an airport hotel booking is possible, arranged in advance and timed by message. A booking at a central address is confirmed in about ten minutes and reaches you forty to sixty minutes later.
Which parts receive the most attention
Say in your message that you have just flown in, and from where. The therapist will spend longer on the legs, with light, broad contact on the calves, since swollen tissue does not welcome heavy weight, and firmer passes along the thighs and hips. The lower back receives the long forearm work beside the spine that restores some of its curve. The shoulders and upper back, rounded by the flight, open under slow weight across the shoulder blades. The neck stays mostly with the hands.
Length and rates
After a long flight, ninety minutes is the sensible length, at €270 with one therapist. It leaves time for the legs, which an hour tends to shortchange. Two hours, at €360, suit anyone who flew overnight in economy and feels it everywhere. Couples arriving together can book one therapist on the couple row, €540 for ninety minutes, or a therapist each on the couple, two therapists row, €1,080 for ninety minutes. All rates are shown on the therapist profiles.
A first booking with the house sends half of the fee ahead by card, Revolut, Wise or crypto; so does any booking made more than twenty-four hours before its start, which helps if you want the session fixed before you board. The rest is paid when she arrives, in cash of any major currency, by card or in crypto. Cash in the currency you flew in with is fine.
Before she arrives
Drink more water than feels necessary. Have a warm shower to loosen the back and wash off the cabin air. Warm the room, since jet-lagged bodies feel the cold more. Eat something light an hour or more before. Put your legs up against the wall for a few minutes if the ankles are swollen. The preparation guide has the rest of the list.
When to wait
A few situations call for a day's patience. If one calf is painful, hot or much more swollen than the other after a flight, see a doctor before any massage. If you have had recent surgery, a blood clot in the past, or take blood-thinning medication, check with your own doctor first. A fresh sunburn from a stopover beach is worth a day or two too; this note on sunburn and fresh tattoos explains why.
The morning after
Most travellers who book this way sleep long and wake closer to local time than they expected. The legs feel lighter, the back straighter. Drink water again on waking and take a walk in daylight. By the second evening, the flight is usually forgotten.
Every client must be twenty-one or older, on arrival day as on any other.
