If any tradition is a near relative of body to body, it is this one.
Lomi lomi is the massage of Hawaii, and in its spa form it is known for long, flowing strokes given with the forearms in warm oil, sweeping from one end of the body to the other without a break. Anyone who has had it and then books full contact recognises the opening minutes at once. So the question of body to body massage vs lomi lomi is not really about which is different. It is about where one stops and the other keeps going.
What lomi lomi looks like
A table, usually. Plenty of oil. The practitioner moves around you in a way often described as a dance, stepping and swaying so that her body rather than her arms drives each stroke. The forearm is the main instrument: laid flat, it travels from the heel to the shoulder, curls around the shoulder blade and returns, sometimes in a single pass along the whole of one side.
Strokes overlap and interweave. One arm is still finishing as the other begins, so contact never quite breaks. The rhythm is often likened to waves, and in many versions a steady musical pulse sets the tempo.
Draping is generous and mobile. Towels are folded back so that one stroke can cross from leg to back without interruption.
What body to body adds
The forearm is where full contact begins, not where it ends.
After hands and forearms, the contact widens again: the torso, the thighs, the flat of a back laid along yours. The instrument grows until it is the whole of the therapist, and that is the defining step lomi lomi does not take. What body to body massage actually means sets out why each increase in surface changes the character of the pressure.
The second difference is the furniture. Lomi lomi is built around a massage table, which lets the practitioner circle you and lean in from standing. Full contact is built around a bed, which brings the therapist onto the same surface as you. Weight then comes down rather than across.
The third is tempo. Lomi lomi is rhythmic and nearly continuous. Full contact is slower and makes use of stillness: weight arrives, rests, and only then moves on.

Why lomi lomi regulars adapt quickly
They already know how to receive a long stroke. They do not flinch when contact travels from calf to shoulder, and they feel no need to track where the hands have gone. That is half of what a first-timer has to learn in the opening minutes.
What they have to adjust to is stillness, and heat. Where lomi lomi keeps moving, full contact sometimes stops and simply lets weight sit, and the warmth of a body resting against yours is of a different order from the warmth of a forearm sweeping past.
If you love lomi lomi for its flow and are unsure about the added closeness of full contact, oil massage sits neatly between the two: long, oiled, continuous strokes with hands and forearms, and no torso work.
Four hands, and the wave effect
Lomi lomi is sometimes given by two practitioners in unison, and people who have had it describe losing track of where one stroke ends and the next begins. The same thing happens, more intensely, in four-hand massage, where two therapists work in mirror or in counterpoint. If that wave sensation is what you are chasing, it is the booking to consider, at EUR 360 an hour.
A note on oil
Both forms depend on oil, but they spend it differently. Lomi lomi needs enough slip for a quick, sweeping stroke. The full-contact form needs enough for a wide, slow one carrying far more weight, and more is laid down as the session moves from forearm to torso. The guide to oil and glide explains why the quantity keeps changing across the hour.
Booking it
Start with ninety minutes of oiled body to body. The forearm phase will feel like home. The phase after it is the reason to book. Therapists reach hotels and apartments across the centre in twenty to thirty minutes, the booking is confirmed on WhatsApp in about ten, and payment happens at the door.
